Laboratory Technician II
This Laboratory Technician II position is an advanced
professional research laboratory position responsible for performing a
variety of administrative tasks, and routine and specialized procedures
in a technical molecular biological and environmental toxicology
laboratory. Individual will coordinate activities with other members of
a research team whose focus is on the further development and
application of genetically modified (transgenic) fish as models for
biomedical and environmental health research. The position will be
responsible for the design and implementation of chemical toxicological
tests using the fish, performing DNA mutation analyses, and various
laboratory and molecular biological procedures such as DNA isolation,
PCR, electrophoresis, and sequencing, to support the continued
validation of the fish-based assay. Duties also include coordinating
activities with other team members with regard to the maintenance and
perpetuation of the laboratory fish stocks, including a shared schedule
of routine feeding and care that can include weekends and holidays.
Experience in or an expressed williness to learn new procedures is
required.
Education/Training: A bachelor of science degree or comination of
college course work and work experience in biology, toxicology, aquatic
biology, fishery science, genetics, or molecular biology.
