***POSTDOCTORAL POSITION*DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY*****

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to study inner ear
development in zebrafish. Since the complex structure of the ear
develops
from a simple ectodermal thickening it provides a wonderful system
for
studying differentiation and morphogenesis of a sensory structure.
Specific questions on ear development will be addressed using
molecular,
genetic and biological imaging techniques. Currently, my laboratory
studies cell lineage and gene function in the developing inner ear of
the
frog, Xenopus, and lateral line development in zebrafish. Research
experience in molecular biology desired. The House Ear Institute is
a
private research institute located near downtown Los Angeles, a
short
drive from most of the research universities in Southern California. The
institute has new and state of the art research facilities including a
confocal microscope. Starting time is flexible with the position available
starting January 2000. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
Interested individuals should send a CV, a summary of past research
experience, and the names of three references.
