Gene and genome duplications and the functional
divergence of genes
The Research Group Evolutionary Biology is looking for 1 or 2 PhD
students to be part of the Bioinformatics programme of Yves Van
de Peer on =91gene and genome duplications and the functional
divergence of genes=92. The PhD researchers will be part of an active
and internationally well-known research group, studying different
aspects of evolutionary developmental biology, with particular
emphasis on the zebrafish model and cichlid fishes. The position
is for a period of 2 years, beginning from March 2001 and with a
salary according to German BAT2a/2 salary scale (about DM 3,000

areas: (i) data base management of large amounts of data
produced in our own research group as well as those deposited in
public sequence databases, (ii) implementation of methods for
comparative genomics aimed at the understanding of the evolution
of novel gene functions, (iii) phylogenetic tree construction and
phylogenomics. For more information, contact Dr. Yves Van de
Peer ({ HYPERLINK "../../../Yves.VandePeer at uni-konstanz.de" }Yves.VandePee=
r at uni-konstanz.de) or Prof. Axel Meyer
