sex ratio of crosses

intend to use zebrafish for ecotoxicological investigations on the
endocrine axes. Now we do have a high variability (standard
deviation of 26%!!) in sex ratios of the crosses in our facility with a
preference on the female sex (67% female). In about 40% of all
spawning events with only one pair of parents we observe a sex
ratio of > 80% female. Is that a common problem or does anyone
have any ideas how to avoid it?
sincerely Rupert
