POSTDOC
LINKAGE MAP OF SEABASS
A 18 month postdoctoral fellowship in fish genomics funded by the
European Union is available at the Fish Genetics Group (Dr. Filip
Volckaert) of the Laboratory of Aquatic Ecology. The main goal is
the construction of a linkage map of sea bass (Dicentrarchus
labrax) based on microsatellite markers. The immediate task
involves the screening of a library for microsatellite markers, the
development of primers, locus testing and screening of reference
families. The results will be combined with parallel projects on a
linkage and synteny map of sea bass. A fully equipped DNA lab,
including a LiCor automatic sequencer, is available. The
successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular
genetics and if possible has experience with marker development
and mapping. Leuven is an historical university city with a high and
pleasant standard of living. Start date: fall 2001.
If interested, send a cover letter (including research interests and
goals) and Curriculum Vitae before 25 July 2000 to:
