Associate and Animal/Aquarium Technician) in my laboratory at 
UC Berkeley.  Both positions were posted today and interested

Staff Research Associate II
Molecular & Cell Biology: Life Sciences Addition ASU - Genetics

Job Duties: Manage operations in a zebrafish developmental 
genetics laboratory. Supervise a zebrafish colony, including 
breeding, in vitro fertilization, sperm cryopreservation, and upkeep 
of a computer database. Perform in situ hybridization experiments 
and histological stains. Use PCR to isolate genes and to 
genetically map genes and mutations. Participate in ongoing 
genetic screening. Perform microscopic observations and 
manipulations. Prepare appropriate laboratory reagents including 
stock solutions, plasmid DNA, and riboprobes. Supervise 
purchasing and maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment. 
Train/supervise students and laboratory helpers. Keep meticulous 
data records. Required qualifications: B.A. or B.S. in the Biological 
Sciences and 2 years of post-graduate laboratory work, or 
equivalent experience. Effective organizational skills. Ability to work 
both independently and as part of a team. Preferred qualifications: 
Experience in animal husbandry, especially zebrafish. Experience 
with Apple and PC word processing (Word) and database programs 
(FileMaker Pro).  

Aquarium Technician (Animal Technician)
Molecular & Cell Biology: Life Sciences Addition ASU - Genetics

Hours: some weekends/holidays
Closing date: review begins 3/23/01

Job Duties: Working in an on-campus state-of-the-art aquatic 
facility, raise zebrafish through all stages of their development. 
Culture microorganisms to feed fish, feed fish, run the zebrafish 
nursery, monitor water quality, wash glassware, and perform 
routine aquarium maintenance. Required qualifications: Must be 
extremely reliable and responsible and enjoy working with animals. 
Ability to follow directions, work both independently and with 
others, pay attention to detail, keep careful records, and recognize 
potential problems and call them to the attention of others. 
Preferred qualifications: Experience with animals. Experience with 
computer database management (FileMaker Pro).
