Tenure-Track Positions
Department of Biological Sciences
SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY, Dedman College, Dallas
TX The Department of Biological Sciences is moving into the new,
state-of-the-art sciences building in Dedman College in 2002.
During the next three years, five new scientists will be hired whose
research complements an already strong molecular biology
program. Two of the five positions are available beginning fall 2002.
We hope to make at least two of the five appointments at the
senior (associate or full professor) level. Whether junior or senior,
all successful candidates must have a solid commitment to
teaching and a strong record of research accomplishments in
areas that utilize molecular/biochemical/cellular approaches.
Additionally, candidates will be expected to develop vigorous,
externally funded research programs in their chosen fields.
Competitive start-up funds and salaries will be offered. Candidates
should forward curriculum vitae, a brief statement of research
plans, and three letters of recommendation to: Dr. Larry Ruben,
Chair, Department of Biological Sciences, Southern Methodist
University, Dallas, TX 75275. The two positions recruited this year
begin fall semester 2002. The committee will begin its review of the
applications on or about December 1, 2001. To ensure full
consideration for the positions, the applications must be
postmarked on or before December 1, 2001, but the committee will
continue to accept applications until the positions are filled. The
committee will notify applicants of its employment decisions after
the positions are filled. SMU will not discriminate on the basis of
race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or veteran
status. SMU also is committed to nondiscrimination on the basis
of sexual orientation.
