Dear Colleague:
The Genetics and Molecular Neurobiology Research Branch at the
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of
Health (NIH) seeks to hire a program director or Health Scientist
Administrator to foster and expand NIDA's current extramural
program in the molecular genetics of addiction vulnerability in
humans. The incumbent will be considered the resident expert in
human genetics and is responsible for independently organizing an
extramural research program in the genetic mechanisms
underlying addiction vulnerability in human. This includes
administering research grants, training grants, fellowship grants,
and research development contracts in these area; providing
technical leadership to other personnel in the Institute, as
well as to investigators throughout the country. In addition, the
incumbent is responsible for developing new initiatives, responding
to congressional mandates, representing NIDA at interagency
meetings, and serving on national councils and committees
concerning genetics research. As such the incumbent will have a
large impact on the direction of genetics research at NIDA
and NIH.
The position is full time with a salary range between $ 66,229.00 -
$101,742.00 depending upon experience In addition to above
salary, Physician's Comparability Pay, Recruitment Bonus, or
Relocation Allowance of up to 25 percent may be paid. The
position is located in Bethesda, MD. Minimum qualifications for
this position is a Ph.D. in genetics or post-doctoral training in
genetics.
The opening date for the position is 04/02/2002 with 07/29/2002 as
the closing date.
