Post-doctoral position in Cell and Developmental biology
Applications are encouraged to a European Union-funded two-years
post-doctoral position to study the coupling between fate
specification and cell division in the developing central nervous
system of the ascidian Ciona intestinalis. This model system is
currently becoming a reference model organism due to the
simplicity of its embryos, the existence of an invariant lineage, the
recent sequencing of its genome and the efficiency of morpholino-
based gene knock-down experiments. Most importantly, it allows
the description of developmental processes with a single-cell level
of resolution.
Depending on the background and interests of applicants, several
projects involving a combination of embryological, cellular,
molecular and bio-computing approaches can be discussed.
Our group is located at the IBDM, on the Luminy Campus in
Marseilles, France. The Institute hosts around 30 groups working in
the field of Developmental Biology on a variety of vertebrate and
invertebrate systems. It provides a friendly and interactive
environment as well as state of the art core facilities in imaging and
genomics.
Applicants familiar with molecular approaches and with a
background in Developmental or Cell Biology, should e-mail a CV
and a brief description of their current research interests to:
