Job Description:
Research Assistant, Zebrafish Technician
The Zebrafish International Resource Center located at the
University of Oregon is seeking a full-time zebrafish laboratory
technician who will work weekends and holidays as well as some
weekday hours.=A0 The successful applicant will have a Bachelors
degree preferably in biology with knowledge in genetics.=A0 Skills and
knowledge in the areas of=A0 fish husbandry, aquaculture and various
fabrication techniques are desirable.
Primary responsibilities include weekend fish care (all aspects),
supervising student employees, feeding fish during the week, and
careful observation of the fish. Fish husbandry will include breeding,
feeding, maintaining, and raising zebrafish, preparing food, and
cleaning tanks. The job also includes some management
responsibilities, computer skills, and general trouble-shooting. The
work requires occasional heavy lifting, repetitive lifting of 5 to 10
lbs., and performing tasks in a hot and humid environment.=A0=A0 The
ability to integrate into a diverse work group is essential.=A0 Salary is
commensurate with qualifications and experience. (18K - 21K).
