The Sars International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology 
(http://www.sars.uib.no) is a research centre established by 
Norwegian authorities to promote basic research in marine 
molecular biology. Research is funded on the programme 
"Comparative molecular biology of marine animals", and is carried 
out in 5 research groups. The Centre is a division of the Bergen 
University Research Foundation, and has affiliation to the University 
of Bergen. The Centre has an international profile with 40 people 
from 12 different countries, including PhD and Master students.

Sars International Centre offers five scientific positions in the 
following fields, to work on the molecular biology of the tunicate 
Oikopleura dioica (Science, 294:2506 [2001] and Dev Biol, 238:260 
[2001]) and the Atlantic salmon.

Position 1: postdoctoral fellow for 2 years on chromatin dynamics 
and nuclear architecture in Oikopleura gene regulation closing date 
June 3, 2002

Position 5: PhD student for 3 years on Genome duplication in fish

For postdoctoral positions, applicants must hold a PhD degree. For 
PhD student positions, applicants must hold a Master Degree or 
equivalent. Start dates can be negotiated.

Salary as Postdoctoral fellow (code 1109) will be level 52 (NOK 
345.200, Euro 45.254 per. annum) and for PhD student (code 1017) 
level 34 (NOK 256.200, 33.599 Euro) at employment, with later 
raise (level 34-38 (NOK 272.000, Euro 35.673) due to seniority in 
the position. Unifob has an insurance agreement for their 
employees.
