3 Postdoctoral positions, zebrafish transgenesis/insertional
mutagenesis
The Sars Centre for Marine Molecular Biology Bergen, Norway, is
offering 3 postdoctoral positions in genetics of neural development
and function in zebrafish available immediately with focus on
neurological defects/synaptic plasticity in zebrafish CNS and
retina. One position is for two years and is on functional
investigation of GluR2 AMPA receptor subunits in zebrafish retina
and spinal cord. We have recently cloned and characterized all
zebrafish AMPA receptor genes. This project will employ
generation of transgenics to investigate the significance of AMPA
receptor transcriptional patterns and RNA editing in synaptic
plasticity and function. Two positions are for 3 years each. These
positions were established in the context of a large-scale viral
enhancer trap screen currently under way. This screen aims at
examining several thousand zebrafish enhancer trap lines
expressing GFP in a tissue-specific manner. These positions
would be ideal for individuals who would like to start their own
program on any aspect of vertebrate neurogenesis, as this screen
will likely yield a large number of specific trap lines and mutants.
Initial salary (code 8150) will be NOK 355,000 (ca =A4 48,100) per
year. Unifob has an insurance agreement for their employees.
Applicants should send a letter of intention, stating which of the
positions they are applying for, a full CV with publication list, and
the names of 3 references to the Head of Administration, Sars
Centre, Thorm=F8hlensgate 55, N-5008 Bergen, Norway. Application
deadline 14 February 2003. Please mark application "03/sars04U".
Applications received only by e-mail will not be considered.
