Investigator Scientist Comparative Genomics Group
Applications are invited to work within the Comparative Genomics
Group of the MRC HGMP-RC, located on the Hinxton Genome
Campus, together with the Sanger Institute and the European
Bioinformatics Institute. The complementary expertise offered by these
three organisations, make the Hinxton Campus one of the premier
centres for Genomics research worldwide.
The Comparative Genomics Group at the MRC HGMP Resource
Centre develops and uses tools which enhance annotation of both the
coding and non-coding portions of vertebrate genomes. We are
particularly interested in using in vivo systems to functionally
characterise conserved noncoding sequences in developmental genes.
To this end we have established a zebrafish facility in order to carry out=
this work and are now looking for an experienced zebrafish
developmental biologist both to establish and implement new
techniques and also to co-ordinate the laboratory work. You will be
expected to have a detailed knowledge of zebrafish developmental
biology/anatomy plus experience of molecular biology techniques,
comparative genomics, zebrafish microinjection techniques,
microscopy, use of expression vectors and transgenic approaches.
The successful candidate will supervise a small team, generate and
participate in collaborations and have the ability to develop
independent research projects.
The salary will be in the range of =A326,555 - =A341,250 per annum (within=
MRC Salary Band 3) depending on qualifications and experience. This
is supported by a flexible pay and reward policy and an optional MRC
Pension Scheme. A job description for the vacancy may be obtained
by telephoning (01223) 402408 or by e-mailing recruit at mrc-
centre.cam.ac.uk OR Dr Greg Elgar on 01223 494500.
Applications should include a full CV and the names and addresses of
two professional referees who can be contacted prior to interview.
