Postdoctoral Fellowship (Medical College of Wisconsin) Available July
1, 2004.

Study organogenesis of the intestine utilizing the zebrafish for
classical genetic analysis. Projects will consist of positional
cloning of genes essential for the morphogenesis of intestinal villi,
followed by molecular and embryological analysis to dissect
developmental pathways. The primary mission of the lab is to address
basic questions in organ development with potential applications to
treating digestive organ failure in children. The lab is in the
Department of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology Division) and is closely
affiliated with the Department of Cell Biology and the Human
Molecular Genetics Center, with many opportunities for academic
interaction. We have a new 3000-tank AHAB fish facility adjacent to
the laboratory, genomic and informatics infrastructure, and unique
mutants with mapped loci ready for cloning. (for example see
http://dev.biologists.org/cgi/content/full/130/17/3917)

We are seeking talented, highly motivated individuals with a doctoral
degree in a basic biological science, a track record of productivity
in graduate school, strong references and a passion for developmetal
biology. Evidence of scientific talent and genuine enthusiasm will
outweigh experience with particular techniques.

We offer a very competetive compensation package including health,
dental, and group term life insurance; supplemental retirement
program; paid vacation, sick and holiday time; academic development
funds; free campus parking. Milwaukee is an affordable lakeshore
community of 1.5 million with top-ranked public schools, great
neighborhoods, many cultural opportunities, and is located only 90
miles north of Chicago. The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is a
private academic institution dedicated to leadership and excellence
in education, research, patient care and service.
