Position: Zebrafish Facility Manager
We are seeking a Zebrafish Facility Manager/Supervisor to join our
laboratory starting in April 2004. The Zebrafish Facility Manager
position will be responsible for the daily operation of the zebrafish
facility located in the Enders Research Building at Children's Hospital
Boston and be directly responsible to 2-3 principle investigators
sharing usage of the facility.
The candidate will be responsible for supervision of a 900 sq feet
facility with a capacity for ~1500 large community tanks, ~1000 mouse
cages, and ~2500 isolation cages.
Daily responsibilities include coordination of feeding, monitoring the
status of fish health, water quality and general operation of the facility,
sanitation, upkeep of supplies and equipment, and upkeep of fish lines.
Additional duties include orienting new research personnel and facility
users to institutional animal care policies and procedures. Close
interactions with animal care staff, faculty and research personnel are
vital.
Successful candidates for consideration will be those with strong
background in zebrafish husbandry or fish aquaculture and familiarity
with zebrafish housing systems. Candidates should have familiarity
with trouble shooting water quality problems, equipments, and general
aspects of fish health care.
Candidate should have a bachelor's degree or higher. Minimum
commitment is for two years duration.
