Postdoctoral position available starting February 1, 2004 in the
Department of Physiology, UCLA School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA.
(position open until 12/31/04)
Do you have expertise in zebrafish molecular genetics, and are
looking for a new experience using these skills? The neuroendocrine
physiology laboratory of Dr. Nancy Wayne has initiated a new project
using zebrafish as a model for investigating the cell physiology that
regulates the function of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)
neurons, which controls reproduction in all vertebrates. No prior
experience in electrophysiology and optical imaging necessary - we
will train you in these techniques. Projects include: development of
transgenic zebrafish expressing GFP in GnRH neurons; measurement of
membrane excitability and calcium signaling from GnRH neurons during
development and aging, under different photoperiodic conditions, and
in response to different sex-steroid milieus. Salary commensurate
