It could be a pathogen but while you are awaiting diagnosis I would try
to rule out some other variables...the symptoms described sound
suspiciously like an acute toxicity effect, maybe from ammonia poisoning
or gas-bubble disease. Do an ammonia test and check your sumps for the
build-up of excess fish waste (do you use a gravel based biological
filter?). Also, check the intake of your pump for leaks. If the pump is
drawing air and the water is super-saturated with gas, your fish could
be getting the "bends" and will exhibit all the symptoms you describe.
