Dear Members of the Zebrafish Research Community,
The Zebrafish Husbandry Association (http://zhaonline.org/main/) is currently in the process of developing a multi-day, hands-on training course in fish culture, husbandry, and management. The goal of this effort will be to address a major need in the zebrafish research and laboratory animal science communities: where does one go to receive formal, high quality training in zebrafish aquaculture, husbandry, and management?
The course will be designed to provide fish and animal care technicians, managers, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and others involved in zebrafish research with formal training in a number of subjects, including water quality management, nutrition, recirculating aquaculture system maintenance, as well as regulatory and IACUC considerations. The course modules will blend traditional aquaculture and fish biology with the basic tenets of zebrafish use in biomedical research.
To help us design the most relevant and useful program, we hope that you can take a moment to answer the following questions:
1. What would be the most useful topics for training people involved in zebrafish care and use in a research setting?
2. What would be a good length for such a course?
3. What kind of background or education level do you anticipate people taking this course should have to make it most effective?
4. Would you be willing to pay a registration fee, travel, and housing for yourself or someone in your group to attend such a training program/course?
Please send your responses to ZHABoardofDirectors from yahoo.com
Thank you in advance for your help!
