Newsgroup charter:

CSM/bionet.prof-society.csm is a moderated newsgroup devoted solely to
announcements from the Canadian Society of Microbiologists and
discussion of society issues.  It is not intended as a general
discussion forum.  Mail sent to the addresses listed above or posts to
the USENET newsgroup will be forwarded to the CSM moderator.  CSM is
under no obligation to reply to such posts or submit them to the
newsgroup for posting as this group is intended primarily for
communications from the Society to its members and other interested
scientists who may not be members currently.

The Canadian Society of Microbiologists seeks to advance microbiology
in all aspects and to facilitate the interchange of ideas between
microbiologists.  The society is divided into eight sections
(Environmental Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology,
Infections and Immunity, Microbial Physiology, Morphology and
Structure, Virology, Applied Microbiology, and Veterinary
Microbiology).  The CSM is financed by annual dues from the membership
as well as proceeds of the Annual General Meeting or othe rmeeting
which it sponsors.  It is a non-profit organization.
