The Canadian Society of Microbiologists seeks to advance microbiology in all aspects and to facilitate the interchange of ideas between microbiologists. The society is divided into eight sections (Environmental Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology, Infections and Immunity, Microbial Physiology, Morphology and Structure, Virology, Applied Microbiology, and Veterinary Microbiology). The CSM is financed by annual dues from the membership as well as proceeds of the Annual General Meeting or othe rmeeting which it sponsors. It is a non-profit organization.
