The management of these groups has been handled ably at MRC/Rosalind Franklin Centre by Geoff Gibbs, Peter Tribble, Martin Bishop and others for the past several years. They are turning over management of this service to Indiana University Biology department, under the new management, myself - Don Gilbert. These folks deserve our thanks for their devotion to maintaining this useful and unique biology news service. I will work to provide the basic management to keep these groups thriving, and as time permits, provide for expansion of services you readers would like to see, whether new discussion groups or other improvements. The new home of BIOSCI/Bionet is IUBio Archive, iubio.bio.indiana.edu, and it is taking over the role of net.bio.net, www.bio.net and their related BIOSCI news activities. The web interface continues at http://www.bio.net/ News/mail lists continue as {biosci-group}@net.bio.net, e.g. bionews@net.bio.net or bionet-announce@net.bio.net Geoff and Peter at MRC and I are working to keep the current BIOSCI/Bionet system and addresses functioning, and mimimize change-over problems. Please bear with us thru a few glitches, and let us know at biosci-help@net.bio.net of problems that continue. Several of the active newsgroups are either lacking moderators or would welcome new moderators, to keep postings on topic and clear of spam the software filters can't catch. If you would like to volunteer as a Bionet moderator, please email biosci-help@net.bio.net While agreeing to be the current caretaker, I would also like to ask if there is any organization with interest in revitalizing this biology news, and experience in relevant methods (Usenet, mailing list management) to contact me.
