<fontfamily><param>Times</param>Two postdoc positions are available in
the Department of Biology at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.
The goal of the project is the molecular and genetic analysis of the
interacting organisms in a newly established Arabidopsis-Phytophthora
pathosystem.

Position 1. Analysis of in planta expressed Phytophthora genes.

Candidates should have a sound experience in basic molecular biology,
including differential sreening methods, library construction and
bioinformatics. A background in fungal genetics would be advantageous.

Position 2. Molecular analysis of defense mechanisms of Arabidopsis.

A mutational approach or strategies based on RI lines will be used to

isolate putative R-genes. Defense gene expression will be studied
using

DNA microarrays. Candidates should have a background in molecular
genetics of Arabidopsis and basic molecular biology techniques.
Experience in the set-up and the analysis of plant/pathogen
interactions would be advantageous.

The appointments will be made as soon as possible and will be for a

period of up to 3 years. Salary is depending on qualifications.
Applications

including a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and 3 references

(phone, FAX, E-mail) should be sent by March 1st, 1999 to:
