Dear Arabidopsis Netters:
The Tenth International Conference on Arabidopsis Research will be held
July 4 - 8 in Melbourne, Australia. More information on the conference is

Recognizing that the high cost of travel to Australia will make it
difficult for many U. S. Arabidopsis researchers to attend the meeting, the
North American Arabidopsis Steering Committee (NAASC) has applied for
funding to help subsidize travel costs of some junior investigators
(graduate students, postdocs, and junior PIs). At this time it is not
known whether these funds will be provided to us, or whether we will be
able to make any awards. However, we are making this announcement now so
that potential awardees submit abstracts to the meeting.
IF FUNDING IS OBTAINED, then we will put out a call for applications for
travel awards of up to $1,500. Unfortunately, because the funding sources
are from the U. S. Government, only U. S. citizens or permanent residents
will be eligible for funding. In addition, funding agency rules require
that travel be on U. S. - based carriers only.
The NAASC will select from among applications for funding using the
following additional criteria: Awardees must be Graduate Students,
Postdoctoral Researchers, or junior PIs. They must have submitted an
abstract for a poster presentation to the meeting. Preference will be
given to individuals whose poster presentations are selected for
presentation of talks and to members of groups underrepresented in the
sciences.
