Postdoctoral Associate Position - Regulation of pathogen defense by epigenetic mechanisms

A postdoctoral associate position is available starting immediately in the Biology Department at the Syracuse University to participate in one or more of the ongoing research projects focusing on understanding the epigenetic mechanisms regulating pathogen defense in Arabidopsis. We have identified and characterized several Arabidopsis histone demethylase that are involved in regulating defense against pathogens (e.g., see Dutta et. al., Plant J., 2017 Jun 26., doi: 10.1111/tpj.13623). These histone demethylases regulate a variety of defense processes, including pathogen-mediated accelerated flowering and transgenerational resistance response. This project will involve detailed characterization of one or more of these histone demethylase and identification of downstream targets by ChIP analysis.

This position is available for 3 years. Candidate should have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry or a related discipline. Experience with ChIP analysis and/or next generation sequencing is desirable. The successful candidate must be able to independently design and conduct experiments, and willing to work collaboratively with other members of the laboratory.

Interested individuals must complete an online application at www.sujobs.com<http://www.sujobs.com> (# 073197). Please submit a CV, a statement of research experience and interests, and name and contact information of three referees as a SINGLE PDF file.

Syracuse University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
