We began to build release 48 of the EMBL Nucleotide Sequence Database on
15-Aug-1996 18:00.
The following information may be of interest to those maintaining local copies
of the database using updates delivered by the EBI FTP server:
ftp.ebi.ac.uk pub/databases/embl/new
* Daily updates
The first daily update file containing data created after release 48 is
r48u001.dat.Z
All daily update files created before this (named r47*.dat.Z) contain data
which will be included in release 48.
* Cumulative update file
- The file cumulative.old.Z contains all data created since the last full
release (47), and before the 'freeze' date (15-Aug) for release 48.
- The file cumulative.dat.Z contains all data created since the last full
release (47) up to now, and will continue to grow until release 48 is
finished and available on the ftp server. We estimate this to be around
3.9.96. Soon after that time, cumulative.dat.Z will be replaced by a file
containing just data created since release 48.
