Carolina provides computational support to biomedical researchers at the
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
We are looking for an innovative bioinformatics expert to join the Science
Support groups. The successful candidate will advise on and execute projects in
support of research efforts of various laboratories within the NIEHS.
Bioinformatics support of a project on human genomic polymorphisms is initially
envisioned.
The following items of education and experience will be used to evaluate the
candidate: A Ph.D in genetics, molecular or cell biology or related field.
Knowledge of genomic bioinformatics.
Experience with computational tools for DNA and Protein sequence analysis,
particularly the Wisconsin Genetics Computer Group package (GCG).
Experience with computational tools available on the internet.
Working knowledge of client -server applications.
Knowledge of research approaches to problems in molecular biology.
Experience with desktop computing.
Experience in basic biomedical research preferred.
