EMBL 54 available

Release 54 of the EMBL Nucleotide Sequence Database is available from the
EBI anonymous FTP server: ftp://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/databases/embl/release

NB There are two extra EST data files at this release, 16 in total.
The database was frozen to make Release 54 on the  11th March   1998.
The  release  contains  2,125,225  sequence  entries  comprising 1,427,634,373
nucleotides.  This  represents  an  increase  of  about  11%  over Release 53.

For those who mirror the file of cumulative updates from our ftp server
( ftp://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/databases/embl/new/cumulative.dat.Z )
please note that this will change on tomorrow, Wed Apr 1 at 12:00 BST, to
include only post-Release54 data.
