A Postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr.
Vladimir Pravosudov to work on an NIH-funded project focused on the
effects of social environment on memory, hippocampal structure and
neurogenesis in mountain chickadees.  Work will involve trapping
chickadees in the field, performing memory tests in laboratory, and
brain sectioning and analyses.  Brain analyses will include
stereological measurements of hippocampal volume and total neuron
numbers using Nissl-stained brain sections as well as measures of
hippocampal neurogenesis using double staining for BrdU and neuron-
specific markers.  This position is available for three years (time
commitment for the duration of the project is highly preferred) and it
will reside within the Department of Biology at the University of
Nevada, Reno.  Salary starts at $36,000 plus all benefits.  Preferred
start date is June-July 2007.

Required Qualifications:  Ph.D. in Biology or related field
