[Employment] Applications Scientist

CompuCyte Corporation, manufacturer of sophisticated laser scanning
imaging cytometers for research and high-content screening in drug
discovery and biomedical/life science research, is seeking an energetic,
experienced Application Scientist with a strong background in cellular
immunology, cellular analysis or molecular biology.  The incumbent will
be a key player in undertaking research analyses and studies on
CompuCyte's laser scanning cytometry instrumentation.

 

This person will be the scientific "face" of the Company for our
customers and users, developing new applications for our instruments and
new approaches for our users' research.  He/she will be expected to
collaborate with users in undertaking, presenting and publishing novel
research.  In this capacity, this person will work with key scientists
from leading research institutions and pharmaceutical companies, both
within the US and internationally.  This is an excellent opportunity for
a cell biologist to gain experience and exposure to the leading research
institutions and pharmaceutical companies.   

 

CompuCyte's Application Scientist will be responsible for:

 

*         Undertaking research projects and studies to expand the range
of applications for CompuCyte instrumentation

*         Performing feasibility studies and preparing reports for
potential customers 

*         Developing protocols and experimental procedures for customers

*         Collaborating with others on the preparation of CompuCyte's
technical materials, seminars, scientific meetings, and publications

*         Consulting with customers to devise new applications,
protocols and approaches for use on CompuCyte's family of instruments 

*         Managing company-wide lab services logistics driving toward
GLP compliance

*         Developing and implementing a laboratory service expansion
plan

*         Management of all customer feasibility studies and for-fee
projects

*         Serving as a "communication bridge" between end-users and
internal development groups.

The successful candidate will have:

*	An advanced degree in the biological sciences, with thorough
knowledge of appropriate scientific methods and techniques, with
extensive experience in cellular immunology, high-content cellular
analysis, or molecular biology
*	A minimum of five years experience in flow cytometry, cellular
imaging, or a related biomedical field
*	Demonstrated ability to master, use and maintain complex
opto-mechanical instrumentation
*	The ability to speak with authority with peers inside and
outside the Company on scientific matters pertaining to our
instrumentation.
*	Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills,
both oral and written.

We are looking for a hands-on professional who has excellent scientific
depth and the interpersonal and communication skills needed for success
in a small company.  The person must be self-directed with considerable
initiative.  It is important that the person demonstrate the ability to
learn complicated information quickly.


CompuCyte offers a fully competitive salary and benefits package.  The

from the Boston area, as relocation expenses are not available.
