Following isolation of rat primary spinal neuronal and glial cells,
you will be responsible for identifying neuronally derived mediators
key to glial cell activation in vitro, as assessed by Ca flux, NFKb
translocation, p38 phosphorylation and proinflammatory cytokine
production; characterizing kinetics of glial cell activation in vivo
in key inflammatory and neuropathic pain models via
immunohistochemisty; and identifying neuronal derived mediators key to
glial cell activation/ functional responses and pain behaviors in
vivo.

The qualified candidate will have expertise in primary spinal cord
glial, neuronal and astrocyte isolation, culture and manipulation; a
working knowledge of in vivo pharmacology; and the ability to
interpret in vitro data to in vivo experiments. Prior experience with
in vitro assessment of glial cell functional responses and previous in
vivo expertise in preclinical pain models highly desirable. We are
looking for highly motivated individual willing to work in a
collaborative, team-based research organization.
