In this role you will design and implement formulation projects to
develop drug products suitable for preclinical and clinical testing.
You will develop lead formulations, set up stability studies, assess
delivery, evaluate physical properties of formulations and interpret
data. Specifically, you will:
· Develop and conduct basic scientific research in the application of
new ideas and techniques related to new drug delivery technologies and
formulations
· Conduct special analyses and assist senior professionals in carrying
out research tasks requiring accuracy in scientific experimental
techniques, calculations, completeness of data and adherence to
prescribed testing analyses, research protocols or computation methods
· Identify experimental methodologies, devise theories, conduct tests,
reach conclusions and recommend solutions to guide other research and
development work
· Participate in the development of plans, schedules and objectives of
assigned research projects
· Prepare reports and scientific papers on assigned research projects
for internal and external use and make presentations internally to
project/research staff and externally to scientific and academic
audiences
· Keep abreast of considerable amount of current scientific principles
and theories
· Publish related articles in professional journals and publications
Other duties may include providing work direction to junior staff,
serving as an internal and/or external consultant in your area of
assigned research, participating in inter-divisional collaborations
and contributing to the development of patent applications.
You will have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or
Pharmaceutical Sciences and your productive research will be evidenced
by your scientific publications. Additionally, you will demonstrate:
· The ability to work effectively both independently and within a
team
· The ability to monitor research projects carried out by CRO or
external investigators
· Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple
projects
· Excellent oral communication skills and technical writing skills
· Basic computer and data analysis skills (word processing, database
searching, statistics, etc.)
Eligibility: current Canadian citizenship or permanent residence
status in Canada is required in order to qualify for this fellowship.
A working knowledge of current formulation technologies and effective
supervisory skills are strong assets.
