Sylvean Biotech has recently launched a Floriculture Biotechnology
research program in collaboration with the Department of Plant
Production and Soil Science at the University of Pretoria, South
Africa. We have several postdoctoral positions available at an annual
remuneration package of R185,000 (tax exempt), as well as PhD positions
at an annual remuneration package of R130,000 (tax exempt).

The Floriculture Biotechnology research program aims to develop popular
new varieties of the rose and other important ornamental plants, using
genetic engineering. Research within the program will cover a wide
range of topics at the cutting edge of plant biotechnology, including
transgenics, RNAi, metabolic engineering and liquid systems for mass
micropropagation.

The program aims to do ground-breaking, patentable research, and will
also optimise publication output in leading journals. The program
therefore offers significant career-advancement opportunities to the
participating scientists.

We would prefer that the researchers could start as soon as possible.
Interested candidates are invited to send their applications (including
CV as well as brief statement of research interests and career goals) to
recruitment from sylvean.com.
