GFP toxicity (in E. coli?)

We are having a problem with subcloning the modified GFP (by Haseloff) to
include
a strong promoter. It may be that we are having general cloning problems
but now I am
suspecting toxicity in the E.coli. Does anyone have suggestions as to
E.coli strains that work well, or possibly cloning vectors? Currently we
are using pUC 19 or pBluescript as a vector
and DH5a, HB101, or XL-2 E.coli.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanx...Bob K
