I know little about filamentous fungi but someone I talked to was
concerned about the low pH (intacellular or extracellular?) of
filamentous fungi affecting the GFP fluorescence. GFP loses its
fluorescence below pH 5. Does this seem like a plausible
explanation for the failures?
