To John McDonald: This isn't exactly chemical bleaching but could perhaps
be tried : I've used a mouse anti-FITC MAb from DAKOPATTS to detect FITC in
tissue sections where fluorescence had faded. The MAb also efficiently
quenches the fluorescence of "fresh" FITC. This also worked on a
FITC-conjugated DNA probe for in situ hybridization.
