Has anyone expressed EGFP in e. coli? If so, how well does it
fluoresce and what promoter was used?
Also, does anyone have any EGFP mutants available that fail to
fluoresce? I would prefer to have one as close to the C-terminus as
possible. I've made one construct that removes the last 4 AA from EGFP
and I still see weak and unstable fluorescence in ES cells. For my
experiments, I prefer to have no detectable expression.
