Hi. If anyone's interested, I've compared the relative brightnesses of
EGFP (Clontech) and emerald GFP (Packard). In three different
retroviral vector constructs, the emerald gives a notably brighter
signal, both by flow cytometry and by fluorescence microscopy. The EGFP
and emerald vectors I used are identical save for the 4 point mutations
that distinguish the two GFPs. So, if anyone's having trouble detecting
their GFP, using emerald might help.
