Systems Support Manager

Biosouce is the oldest recruitment firm in the biotechnology industry, and
an employer paid fee service. Our client, located in Pittsburgh, PA, has
developed an
high throughput cell screening technology that incorporates fluorescent
miscroscopy and image analysis. They are expanding their systems support
team in order to better serve  biotechnology and pharmaceutical customers
and to accelerate the discovery of new drugs. This company  integrates
reagent and assay development, computer-based image processing, and
bioinformatics with a proprietary hardware platform to identify new
information about the effects of compounds on living cells early in the drug
discovery process.

Job Description:

The  Systems Support Manager will be a hands-on individual who will manage a
small systems support team responsible for the assembly, testing, delivery,
and installation of the  proprietary hardware platform. In addition, he or
she will apply his or her experience in cytometry, fluorescence microscopy,
or electronic imaging to assist Screen Developers in the implementation of
new assays and assist Software Engineers with the implementation of data
acquisition and analysis routines. The Systems Support Manager will provide
technical consultation to existing and potential customers and work along
with Screening Application Specialists to assist with customer screen
support. The  Systems Support Manager will assist with the creation of
manuals, application protocols, applications notes, and other documentation.

Requirements:

Position requires experience with cell biological applications of
fluorescence microscopy and electronic imaging and a thorough knowledge of
the optical, mechanical, and electronic systems used in those applications.
The ideal candidate would have some experience integrating and using
instrumentation systems for applications in biotechnology. Strong computer
skills are also highly desirable. The ability to work independently and the
desire to deliver and support an outstanding product to the market in a
timely manner is critical. Previous experience with project management a
plus. An MS/Ph.D. in Biophysics, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or Physics or
a BS or MS in Engineering with related experience is required.
