My experience with culture flasks has been dissapointing. The plastic
is thick enough to warrant using a LWD objective and the ones we have
are not efficient enough (small NA) for epifluoresecent illumination.
So I have stuck with culturing on coverslips and mounting these in a
chamber supplied by Molecular Probes for viewing on an inverted
microscope.
I have also seen on the market disposable 3.5cm culture dishes with
coverslip quality glass bases (also in other sizes). These however were
not very cost effective so I've not tried them out yet.
