GFP-fusion toxicity

I fused a putative dominant-negative form of a transcription factor with
GFP to study its role in cell proliferation. I transciently transfected
this construct along with GFP alone into C6 glioma cell line. I am
seeing the effect, but cells transfected with GFP fusion protein, which
have green nucleus are dying. Does anybody have any information about
toxicicty of GFP-fusion protein, especially in the nucleus?
Thanks!
