I happen to know that "Taurine" can protect the liver from
toxic chemicals (see: Waterfield et al. 1993, Toxicology, vol. 77,
pp. 1-20). Note that all experiments are performed using MALE rats.
They also says that this beta-amino acid is found in many mammalian
tissues.
An article by John Emsley in "New Scientist", p. 19, april 3, 1993
says that the babies that are breast-fed swallow taurine with their
mother's milk.
Can anyone provides me some scientific references to support the
above notion of John Emsley, i.e mother's milk contains taurine.
