Recently the NY TIMES and C&E news have reported on a press conference
in Paris by Ara Hovanessian and coworkers at the Pasteur Institute
announcing that the protein CD26, which is also known as di-peptidyl
peptidase is involved in infection by HIV. The reports also say that
the enzymatic activity of the peptidase was necessary for infection. The
work was to be presented at an international symposium shortly after the
announcement.
Is there anyone who attended the symposium, or is familiar with the
work, who can tell us what evidence was presented for the involvment of
peptidase activity in the infection process?
