Immunologist seeking job

I am posting this for a friend who does not have an Internet access. He
had been working for about two years in the lab next to mine. Tigran is
one of the brightest young scientist I ever met, and a most amiable
person. Being in Russia (or Armenia, for that matter) he is wasting his
talent. This is a real shame.

He is looking for a postdoctoral, or a similar position in cell biology
or immunology, including clinical immunology. If interested, you can try
and contact him directly. If this proves difficult, reply to my address.

Sincerely,

Andrey

Education:
1988 Graduated from Department of Pharmacology and
                         Medical Chemistry, Yerevan Medical Institute

Professional Background:
1988 - present Research scientist in the Laboratory of
Molecular and Cellular Immunology, Institute of
                         Epidemiology, Virology, and Medical
                         Parasitology, Armenia Ministry of Health.
We work there on the in vitro immunization of
human peripheral blood lymphocytes for getting
                         human-mouse heterohybridomas which produce
                         human monoclonal antibodies against bacterial
toxin and viral proteins. We have obtained some
                         antibody0producing clones to these antigens
which appeared to be rather unstable in respect
to their karyology and human immunoglobulin
                         production.

1988 - 1989 Senior technician in the Laboratory of
Molecular and Cellular Immunology, Institute of
                         Molecular Biology, Acad.Sci.Armenia.
During this period, I had been working on
                         establishing mouse hybridomas.

1989 - 1992 Research scientist, Laboratory of Genetic
                         Mechanisms of Cell Malignization and
                         Differentiation headed by Dr T.N.Ignatova,
                         Institute of Cytology, St.-Petersburg, Russia.
During my stay in this institute, I was
involved in the project of multiple drug
resistance of hybridoma and myeloma cells.
Cells selected for ethidium bromide resistance
were shown to produce more immunoglobulins and
have their MDR1 gene amplified. Both selected
and unselected cells synthesize and secrete
much more immunoglobulins when treated with
EtBr or adriamycin. Adriamycin stimulates the
synthesis of immunoglobulins via free radical
                         production of hybridoma cells.
Also, we have shown that these drugs bind
immunoglobulins inside and outside the cell.
Analogous data were obtained using normal human
lymphocytes. These data made me state that
there exist an additional mechanism (different
from MDR-mediated) of drug efflux from the cell
                         via immunoglobulin secretion.

1993 I have got my Ph.D. in Genetics and Immunology
at the Dept of Genetics and Cytology of Yerevan
University. It is entitled "Induction of Immune
Response of Human lymphocytes in vitro". The
supervisors of my Ph.D. work are: Corresponding
                         Member of the Natl.Acad.Sci.Armenia, Director
of the Institute of Epidemiology, virology, and
Medical parasitology (Yerevan), Prof Yuri T.
Alexanyan, and Head of the Laboratory of
Genetic Mechanisms of Cell Malignization and
Differentiation of the Institute of Cytology,
                         Acad.Sci.Russia (St.-Petersburg), Prof Tatyana
                         N. Ignatova.

Methods: Various variants of immunoenzyme assay,
                         immunoblotting, gel electrophoresis, isolation
and purification of DNA, RNA, and proteins from
                         cells, human cells separation, cultivation,
                         hybridoma generation, and production of
                         antibodies.
