POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN IMMUNOPHARMACOLOGY
DEPT OF PHARMACOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA
This position is offered in a group with interests in both clinical and
basic research in inflammatory joint disease. The appointee will coordinate
a project examining glucocorticoid modulation of monokine production (
especially TNF-alpha) at cellular and molecular levels, with special
reference to factors influencing clinical glucocorticoid responsiveness.
Good laboratory facilities and opportunities for outside collaboration are
available. Applicants require a PhD, a history of productivity in research,
a background either in immunology or glucocorticoid pharmacology and
experience in cell biology or molecular biology. The appointment will be for
an initial period of two years. Some assistance towards relocation expenses (
if applicable) may be negotiated. The appointment is at the level of
research officer or senior research officer, with salary range from A$37,897
to A$42,341. Currently A$1 = approx US$0.74.
We are in Perth, in Western Australia. The department is on the campus of a
600 bed teaching hospital, and includes the department of clinical
pharmacology (two physicians) of the hospital, together with other groups
with interests in various areas of basic pharmacology. Perth is an
attractive, medium-sized coastal city with excellent climate and geography
for an outdoors lifestyle, especially sailing, surfing, beachgoing, etc.
