I have been thinking about an interesting question and will appreciate inputs
from you. It has been well known that germline transcripts are well correlated
with Ig class switching. However, the exact function of the germlien transcripts
in Ig class switching is not clear. In fact, it is not yet known whether
germline transcripts play an active role in the switch event or are
nonfunctional by-products of activation of the switch mechanism. I would like
to look into more about this but can not find any reference on this at our
library. My specific questions are:

1: Is there any advance in regard to the role of germline transcripts in
switch? If you know of any publications on this subject, would you please
send me the list?

2. What is the best way (or any ways) to test whether germline transcripts play
an active role in the switch event or are nonfunctional by-products of switch?

I will appreciate your help. You can send to me directly or post to this net
so everyone can share.
