Usually an equal molar ratio of biotin to protein works well when using
activated biotin molecules (e.g., biotin- carboxy- methyl-N-
hydroxyusuccinimide ester). If you find that you are getting high
background using biotin/streptavidin systems, dry labelling your protein
with dig-NHS. The anti-dig Fab conjugates do not stick non-specifically
and result in low background.
