hi everyone,
well since i've been getting so many requests for this ref,(an alternative
to normal 5'RACE) i think ill also post it globally on the immunology
net---by the way, IF THIS WORKS FOR YOU, REMEMBER TO POST IT ON THE NET!

the Ref:

John H Weis. 'Race no more':an alternative approach to cloning the 5' end
of transcripts. Nucleic Acids Research 1994. Vol 22 No 16, pgs 3427-3428.

it's not that it is amazing to me that the primer "accidentally" gets
integrated after the 50 cycles of linear amp, but that the method works with
JUST random priming, and not the specific , or gene specific rt primer.

as i mentioned in the original posting, i have had varying luck with
5'race,(3' no prob, unless the 3'utr is too big-i cannot usually amp any
thing over 3-4 kb) but this technique is so goofy that it just HAS to work.
