I have a 2 month old son. Here in Sweden non-professionals say that before the age of 2
the child should not get into contact with allergens (in our case cat hair) if one of the parents
has problems with allergy, which I, the father have. (I have a non-season rinitis. Actually I
don't have problems with allergens, I have a continous inflammation in my mucosa, histamines
does not help me, only cortisone helps me (like Budesonid)) My family would like to visit my
parents, but they have a cat, there's the problem.
I'm a med. stud. (just a beginner, but I have studied the course of Immunology) and I want
a professional explanation about what could possibly happen to my son if we visited my
parents. I don't understand why my son's allergy (if he has an allergy?) should become
worse by allergen contact before the age of 2. I know everything about allergens and IgE.
IS THERE ANY DANGER?
Scientists and physicians, please reply directly to me.
Thanks, Tobias.
