It is possible to use a tetrazolium salt like MTT to evaluate
proliferation cellular responses. The MTT has a Yellow color and is reduce
to a blue formazan in the mitocodria of limphocytes. This assay is
describe in Mosmann' paper(1983) and can be avaluate
specphotometricly(O.D. 570nm).
The reference is: Mosmann, T. R. Rapid colorimetric assay for cellular
growth and survival: Application to proliferation and citotoxicity assay.
J. Immunol. Methods, v.65, p.2348, 1983.
The MTT(3-[4,5 dimethylthuazol-2yl] 2,5-diphenyl) tetrazolium bromide)
and can be purchased from sigma. You can use 10 ul to 100ul of
final volume from a stock solution of 5 mg/ml in PBS.
