By far the most widely used, cheapest and most reliable lymphocyte
proliferation based in 96 well plate is tritiated thymidine.  Harvesting
is via glass filter paper using one of several automatic harvester
systems.  We have a Packard which harvests whole plate at one time and
then reads the paper as is.  No need for scintillation fluid etc....
