I'm not positive about this, but I believe if the FCS is of US origin things
go smoother. A lot of this started around the time of the British "Mad Cow
Disease" scare. Serum free media is an other solution. I have received Ab's
from Europe that were derived from serum-free cultures. You still need a
USDA import license, but it's easier to get if you're not bringing in
"foreign" FCS.
